New Illinois Laws Taking Effect 2025

Here are a few of the new laws and amended laws that could pertain to you this year, and a few that take effect in 2026. The links below each new law will take you to the Illinois General Assembly site for the exact verbiage and more details on the laws.

  1. Epinephrine Cost Limit- This law makes it so there is a cap on the cost of medically necessary Epinephrine to $60 for the insured person. Regardless of the type of Epinephrine injector

  2. Colonoscopy Coverage- Medically necessary colonoscopies could be completely covered by insurance.

  3. Landlord-Tenant Credit Report- Discusses when a prospective tenant cannot be charged for an application screening fee.

  4. Prosthetic/Orthotic Coverage- Mandate that benefits be provided for a prosthetic or custom orthotic device determined by the enrollee’s provider to be most appropriate for physical activity.

  5. Hearing Aid Coverages- To apply the child hearing aid coverage mandate to all ages. Maintains the cost defrayal provisions-click to read more.

  6. Auto Repairs- If determined a total loss on a vehicle, the insurance agency has to provide the insured a brief description of how they came to that decision.

  7. Condo Accessible Parking- The board of managers should make the best effort to make accessible parking to condo owners.

  8. Equal Pay Act-Pay Scale- A business with 15 or more employees they must post the pay scale and benefits on job postings.

  9. Minimum Wage- The minimum wage is now $15 per hour, $9 an hour for tipped employees, and $13 for under the age of 18.

  10. Small Single-Use Plastic Bottles Act- Hotels will not use single use bottles for shampoo, lotions, etc.
